I had the opportunity to borrow a friends macro lens this week. Usually I borrow it to take ring shots at weddings, but rarely have the time to play around with it. These were just quick shots from my backyard, and I'm entirely in love with the macro world! It is a very specialist lens though, so it would probably be last on my list of photography gear to purchase.

Dan and I went to the Easter Show on Friday. We got up super early and caught the train to the show, and we immediately headed for the dog pavilion. Since I was a teenager, I've wanted a pug, so about 15 years now. I have never been able to have a dog, just due to different living situations and life circumstances in the past, including now as my rental does not allow pets. I went to the show hoping to take some photos of the pugs being judged, and did not expect to be able to get so close to them! I'm not sharing the photos Dan took of me here (because I look like a damn wreck) but I got so overwhelmed and emotional when I met them! It's like years of wanting something so bad, and I rarely see pugs out in the world, it was all just too much. I just cried like a big baby!

The handlers could see I was passionate and in love, and not only allowed me to take photos of the pugs, but I got to pat them AND she gave me a pug puppy to hold. I immediately became flustered and red and just CRIED. I spent hours here just patting and looking at the pugs.

So yeah, now I sound crazy! I know I could move to another rental that allows pets, but I am happy in my apartment. I'm patient and I can wait another few years to get some pugs, maybe when we buy a house.

It's always difficult to take decent photos in low light situations. Unfortunately this hall was poorly lit with fluorescents (ugly coloured shades of light) and I didn't bring my bulky and large flash.

I had this big plan to take all sorts of photos at the show for my blog, but I spent so long with the pugs I hardly took any photos at all.
